Langtang Gosaikunda Trekking combines the remote and spectacular valley of Langtang, with the high mountain lakes at Gosaikunda. Backtracking, we travel through Syabru village and SingGompa to a high plateau, where the sacred lake Gosainkund is located. Gosaikund Lake has a black rock in the middle, said to be the head of Shiva. according to legend, Shiva created this high altitude lake when he pierced a glacier with his trident (trisul) to obtain water to quench his thirst after consuming poison gathered from the churning of the oceans ( the poison is the reason why Shiva is depicted with a blue throat). You can visit the beautiful Langtang National park and then trek to the end of the valley to view the wonderful mountains views. Following the Trishuli River north out of Kathmandu, you travel through Trishuli Bazaar and Dhunche to Syabrubesi, a Sherpa village located at the very edge of the Langtang National Park. You then swing east into the Langtang valley, crossing the river several times as you travel up along a gorge like, lower section of the valley. A visit to the Langtang Valley provides a trekker with the oppurtunity to explore villages, climb small peaks and visit glaciers at a comfortably low elevation. Populated mostly by the Tamang people, the region is famous for its narrow valley surrounded by mountains such as Naya Kangri and Dorje Lakpa. Spring time sees the blooming of the Rhododendrons and a vast array of red, white and blue wild flowers. Within the valleys, Yaks lazily graze near the houses of their owners.
